Thomas Hillier

Thomas Hillier II has practiced for 30 years, exclusively as a criminal defense lawyer. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. In 1982, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals appointed Tom the Federal Public Defender for the Western District of Washington. He speaks, trains and testifies in many legal and legislative venues, and is a prolific contributor to criminal defense treatises.

In 2000 Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist appointed Tom to the Advisory Committee on the Federal Rules of Evidence. Tom has argued before the United States Supreme Court, and has appeared many times before the Ninth Circuit. He has received both WACDL's and the ACLU's William O. Douglas Awards; WSBA's Angelo Petruss Award; and the Gonzaga Law Medal.
