The Honorable Mary E. Roberts

Mary E. Roberts was appointed to the King County Superior Court by Governor Gary Locke in June of 2003, and has since been elected to the position.

Prior to her appointment, Judge Roberts was a partner at Frank Freed Roberts Subit & Thomas LLP, where she practiced labor and employment law on behalf of unions and employees.

While in private practice she served as Chair of WSTLA's Employment Law Section, Chair of the Washington Employment Lawyers Association (WELA), and Chair of the Labor and Employment Section of the King County Bar Association.

Before entering private practice Judge Roberts spent six years in the Civil Division of the King County Prosecutor's Office where she advised and represented county officials in labor and employment matters, and was assigned as counsel to the district and superior courts.

Judge Roberts also worked as a public defender and as a superior court law clerk/bailiff early in her career. She received her B.S. in mathematics from the University of Puget Sound, and her J.D. from the University of Washington.
