John Coughenour

The Honorable John C. Coughenour is a well-known figure on the national judicial scene. Before his elevation to the bench, Judge Coughenour was a leading litigator with Bogle & Gates.

He has taught trial and appellate practice extensively at the University of Washington School of Law, and he regularly speaks to audiences around the US and abroad about key aspects of law practice and jurisprudence.

He has served as Chair of the Ninth Circuit working groups on Jury Instructions and on Gender Bias, and he is Past President of the Ninth Circuit District Judges' Association.
