Winning the Toughest Cases
- a CLE Seminar
Eric Oliver
Eric Oliver spent the past 19 years helping trial lawyers become more successful by aligning their nonverbal/implicit communications with their words.
Eric will teach you - as he has taught thousands of litigators around the country - how to make your trial, pretrial, negotiation and client communications more powerful, by showing you how to build case presentations that integrate themes, metaphors, visuals, witness and lawyer performance to satisfy the needs of all whom you must convince.
Eric has assisted some of the nation's leading trial lawyers (including, e.g., Paul Luvera), and he regularly assists both small firm practitioners and partners of national law firms.
He has helped to construct winning case presentations in nearly every type of dispute, ranging from antitrust and commercial contract disputes; to insurance/bad faith, products liability, and medical malpractice cases -- and he has even worked successfully on some criminal cases, including high-profile murder and fraud trials.
Known for his ability to see more than most, Eric has helped litigators produce almost "magical" results, e.g.: precisely predicting settlement amounts from nonverbal cues alone; winning trial work over longstanding competing firms; impeaching expert credibility on the stand by nonverbal means alone; and achieving record verdicts with innovative (but legal) forms of closing argument.
Eric is a regular faculty member of ATLA's National College of Advocacy. He has spoken to the Inner Circle Of Advocates, the International Association Of Trial Lawyers, several sections of the ABA, and many state and local bars, CLE groups, and various associations of general counsel.
Eric has written for TRIAL magazine, and he is a regular contributor to The Trial Lawyer Journal. He has authored two widely-admired books on communication: The Human Factor At Work, and Courtoom Power: Communication Strategies For Trial Lawyers (with Paul Lisnek).
Eric is now working on a new book, Facts Can't Speak For Themselves, which is to be published by NITA.
Eric is the founder and principal of MetaSystems, Ltd., based near Detroit, Michigan.
