Chuck Lewis

Chuck Lewis is an Accident Reconstruction Expert (ACTAR #193) and was a key expert for Bill (Fury) Bailey in the case that was the basis for Scruggs v. Singh NITA.

Chuck was with the Alaska State Troopers for 15 years, during which he was sent to Northwestern University to attend accident reconstruction schools. He then taught basic and advanced accident investigation for the State of Alaska for seven years at the Trooper Training Academy in Sitka Alaska.

He was first qualified as an expert witness in traffic accident reconstruction in 1978 and was the State's only accident reconstructionist until his resignation in 1985.

He went into private practice in Bellevue, WA in 1985 and has been working as a forensic expert in that discipline ever since.

After he left the Alaska State Troopers he was recruited by Northwestern University to teach traffic accident reconstruction for the Traffic Institute on a part time basis.

He has taught at the Washington State Patrol Academy, the Oregon State Police Academy, the Tennessee State Police Academy, the Indiana State Police Academy and on campus in Evanston, Illinois.

In 1993 he began teaching traffic accident reconstruction for Texas A&M University's TEEX (Texas Engineering Extension) and has taught classes at the Los Angeles Police Department Academy and on campus at College Station.
